Dear favorers of fossil mollusca,

On a recent trip to Ft. Macon, NC, I found a Eucrassatella valve with
sandstone embedded under the umbone. Now it seems clear that these valves
are common there not as recent wash-ups but mostly as fossils.

They look mostly the same as recent specimens. Are there many species? How
far back do they go?
