Allen, I've hatched a Fasciolaria tulipa egg case many years ago. The
shells were already formed when I put the egg case in the aquarium. The
tiny shells came out colored almost solid black. I brought the egg case
from South Bimimi in the small aquarium that I had taken over with me to
photograph living shells. Anyway the shells began eating each other
until there was only about a dozen left. They hid from each other and
even though I fed them well they still killed and ate one another. All
of them were the same age but they were different sizes because of the
amount of food that they ate. The two larger ones finally ate the
others and then the largest one got to the other one. I kept the only
survivor for 4 years and it grew to about 4 inches. I forgot to mention
that when they started growing after they hatched they took on the black
and white colors. That's it for now, heading for bed.
