Dear Hermit-Crab enthusiasts;-
I have observed hermit crabs attacking shells before they were
born. Maybe someone else has. I have seen tiny hermit crabs using their
pincer to get into whelk eggs. They then eat the whelk and use the tiny
shell as their first home. Location: South Carolina beaches. And, as
Harry intimated, except for one group of E. angulatum, (about 7) every
ep that I have "self-collected" (Ang,, Humph., Rup., and Multistriatum)
have been gathered at low tides and inhabited by hermit crabs.
