The size variation exists in adults which form a reflected lip after they
stop growing.

Do populations of these critters breed more or less continuously, or only at
specific times?  Could the two size ranges represent two generations?  Or
offspring from two separate breeding periods in the same parental
population, if such exists - two "litters", so to speak?
