There is a causeway (bridge) which connects the city of Corpus Christi to
the barrier islands.  This may be the second locality you are referencing.
The first island that you reach after crossing the causeway is Padre Island
which extends from Corpus Christi down the Texas coast to Mexico.  If you
turn north you will come to Mustang Island.  I am unfamiliar with "1854
Pass".  Continuing north along the barrier islands there is a pass between
Mustang Island and San Jose Island named Aransas Pass.
