Carol, this had nothing to do with the listserve.  You received it (as did
I, as a friend of Alan's) because you were in Alan's address book on his
computer.  Those who received it from you, were in your own address book.
Subscribing to Conch-L was due only to our common interest which resulted in
our being on each other's e-mail address book.

Your experience shows the reason to pay $29.95 per year for a good virus
program that catches these things before they can infect you.  It really
gives you peace of mind, and makes those to whom you send e-mail more
trustful of opening your attachments.

Viruses are the fault of only the individual who wrote it and started it on
it's way.  No one else should be blamed for passing it on - they were
unaware they had a virus.  You'll feel much better for the experience if you
get a good virus program.  There are free ones available, but you get what
you pay for.
