For those of you who did not make it to the convention, you missed a good
time. The field trips were many and varied. The welcome party at Mote
Marine included a trip through the aquarium where we got to meet the giant
squid and other sea creatures. They have really done a good job with the
Aquarium and have many and varied exhibits.

The programs were good ranging from land snails to those invasive species
like the Green mussel. New officers were elected, and Tom Grace is now
President, Hank Chaney is Vice President, Steven Coker is Treasurer, Alice
Monroe is Secretary, Charlotte Lloyd is Director. Tom Eichhorst has taken
over as the Editor of American Conchologist and Lynn has moved on to
helping with the Conch-net website. Any changes you would like to suggest
need to go to Lynn or Lori Schroeder.

The banquet entertainment certainly carried out the theme of the
convention with young people from the Sailor's Circus performing circus
tricks. Of course the bourse was as spectacular as usual with 110 tables
of goodies for sale. Dealers from all over the world were present.

Start your plans now for 2003 in Tacoma at the Sheraton Hotel from July 17
- 21. Also start looking forward to 2004 in Florida on the Suncoast in
Pinellas County. Watch the American Conchologist for all the details.
