Jordan,
There's no real secret to the chiton-preserving technique. See the article
on: http://www.worldwideconchology.com/MainFrames.htm : then click on the
left-frame "Articles" button to read the article entitled "Preserving
Chitons Flat as a Board" that originally appeared in the Chicago Shell Club
newsletter, Thatcheria. The article discusses a hybrid preserving
technique of those developed by Hansleman and other noted Chiton
aficionados. It is a tried-and-true technique that I have used for my
self-collected Chitons. Chiton preserving is a bit more involved and
lengthy process than preparing gastropods and bivalves for the collection,
but as you know, definitely worth the effort.

Subject: preserving Chitons

Hello All
I read that someone (I forget who) wants to preserve/clean Chitons. I like
Chitons and buy well preserved ones from Richard Goldberg and/or Ross
Mayhew.
Maybe these two people can be persuaded to tell their secrets on Chiton
preserving.
