Hi everyone,

I have 2 specimens that were collected alive, each with a white crust covering the entire
dorsal surface of the shell. The first is a 9 to 10 inch specimen of Lambis truncata. The entire
dorsal surface is coated with a white crust. I've read that bleach is recommended for such
shells. However, I've ruined shells using that treatment. The second shell is of Distorsio anus.
Likewise, it is coated with a white crust. What can anyone recommend for cleaning these shells
to reveal their hidden color and luster? Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance. :)

Sincerely,
Tim Blackwood
