Would anyone like to hazard a guess regarding the ID of the shell featured
in the current film TROY (yes, the Brad Pitt showcase)? From what i have
been told, early on, the mother picks up a white shell from shallow rocks to
put into a necklace for her son. It is a beautiful lustrous white or mother
of pearl, 1-2" and described as a being a conical or spiral shape. Given the
degree of historical accuracy Hollywood strives to maintain in its Star-
Studded blockbusters, it is most likely an Indo-Pacific shell - but perhaps
this time someone did a bit of research.....

Cool and damp at the Edge of the Universe....,
Ross M.
