Wayne:

Thanks for your help several weeks ago. Per your suggestion during the COA
convention, we contacted ScubaTyme of Pompano Beach. Our family of six went
scuba diving with them for six dives, prior to spending a week on a live
aboard dive boat in the Bahamas (Bimini and 10-20 miles south). We had a
good time, and we were very glad that you had recommended them to us.

Hope you are doing well.

Subject: DNA from a Shell?

While at the COA convention, I heard a conversation about extracting DNA
from the hard portion of a dead shell. It would seem to me that it would be
difficult to extract DNA from mineral compound. Would/is there sufficient
organic material deposited within the layers to extract DNA? This would
open some interesting possibilities when 250+ yr old holotypes are still
extant.
