Hello,

A friend and fellow list member has been delving into the origins of scientific names given
to mollusks for quite some time. While discussing Strombus (in the broad sense) recently we
turned to Strombus (Doxander) campbelli Griffith, E. & E. Pidgeon, 1834. In all his searching
nothing could be found concerning who this species was named for. I did some more searching and
turned up nothing. So, I'm turning to the experts of Conch-L. Who or what is this species named
for? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance and I'll look forward
to hearing from you. Bye for now. :)

Sincerely,
Tim Blackwood
