Dear Linda,

Tapul is in the south of the Philippines, part of the chain of Islands
linking the Philippines with Malaysia. it is about 400 km from the
Olango-Caubian Islands. I have never seen the red shells from this
area.

Do not forget a lot of shells get mixed up in Mactan Island. It needs
lots of contacts and experience before one knows where the shells come
from. It is not impossible that the red forms also occur elsewhere. The
Olango shells are all 20 m deep and down - the ones coming from
Zamboanga (or via Zamboanga - the Tapul shells) are all much shallower.

Mabuhay,

Guido
