As mentioned by Leslie, Mexican and Central America land and freshwater
literature is scarce and scattered through the molluscan literature.

An exciting new Web-based version of "Eduard von Martens. 1890-1901.
Biologia Centrali-Americana: Land and Freshwater Mollusca" is now available
on a Web site called "Electronic Biologia Centrali-Americana.
Home page - http://web4.si.edu/sil/bca/explore.cfm
Mollusca - http://web4.si.edu/sil/bca/bca_06_00_00/bca_06_00_00select.cfm

An entire printed set of this long out-of-print publication is priceless.
All 58 volumes dealing with the flora and fauna of Central America have
been digitized and is available on this Web site. (Introduction, Mammalia,
Aves, Reptilia and Batrachia, Pisces, Mollusca, Arachnida, Chilopoda and
Diplopoda, Insecta and Botony).

The entire molluscan Volume is scanned and viewable as standard html Web
pages or printable as PDF files. Linking and cross-referenced indicies make
this a fully functional digital resource.

For Pachychilus glaphyrus see page 474 and plate 25. Most of the 44 plates
are in color. I have an original bound copy of this rare molluscan volume
and the scans are true to color.

There is also a link for the Web site on my home page.

Re: Pachychilus glaphyrum? and musselsKevin:

Morelet, 1849, originally described the species as Melania glaphyra not as
"glaphyrus". It only became "glaphyrus" when transferred to a genus with a
masculine name.
