Dear listers,
I'm asking again if anyone has experience at Pohnpei because I came
across a book passage that makes me hesitate about spending a good
portion of my vacation there.
The Lonely Planet dive book says specifically for Pohnpei: "On Pohnpei,
a number of cultural restrictions keep both reef and land areas
protected. Visitors cannot take away anything from the reef or land, be
it a shell or a stone....."
We could possibly change our tickets to Saipan, Rota, Yap, Palau,
Chuuk, Pohnpei, Kosrae, Kwajalein, or Johnston Island subject to route
or schedule availability.
Does anyone know more about Pohnpei or recommend better, hassle-free
shelling from these islands? (We're not that eager to wreck-dive. We
may possibly be ready for some night diving.)
Thanks in advance for any tips,
David Kirsh
