Art,

The big secret about shell collecting on the Gulf of Mexico is that there
are very few tourists on the beach in winter, but the temperature is usually
in the 40s F and often higher, which I understand feels pleasantly warm to
Buckeyes. Even in wet, overcast February, there are usually a few days when
the temperature climbs to 70 F or so. Lately, with global warming and all
that, days of record heat are commonplace. Why anyone would want to move to
such a climate is beyond me. Can I have your house in Cincinnati when you
leave? Don't worry about the annual flying pig migration -- they pass over
Apalachicola every year. When you hear the flying oinks from above, you know
they're there.

Cheers,
Andy

   1. Doesn't anyone know where Carl Sahlberg is? I should know---but I
don't.
   2. Can anyone tell me about the north-west Florida coast in Late Fall or
Winter. You know: Destin and all that. Temperature. Water temp. Beach
walking. Shells after the big ladies and their big buckets pass by.
You see, My wife is retireing and would like to go there. (retireing
means I might have to go to work. A terrible prospect)
   Any info welcome.
      Thanks.
