Dear Listers,
A question which is puzzling me a bit and for which I hope somebody can help me with. Recently I was in China and was able to collect shells in Qingdao. Beach collecting is difficult as there is not too much to be found on the beaches. However, local fishers offer there catch in several places in the city (alive!), which is an excellent opportunity for easy collecting. Eating shellfood is big in China. From a local fisher I obtainted 3 live shells of what seems to be Stramonita haemostoma (Linne 1758). That brings to me the question whether Stramonita haemostoma is actually living in the Yellow Sea or is there a local species of Stramonita closely resembling Stramonita haemostoma?
Thanks for any view you can provide on this.
