Hi all!

I just got back from Isla Holbox, Mexico witha one or
two odd shells that I thought someone might have some
thoughts about.

The first -- and aoddest -- is an alphbet cone that
has a high, stepped spire. Anyone ever seen one like
that? I found many alphabet cones, but all the rest
were approximately typical of the kind i've seen in
Florida -- maybe a little darker but hte spirres were
flatish and definitly never stepped.

The second is a Florida cone that is a dark, rich
brown color all over.

Is this a Mexican specialty or did I find something
truly freak-like?

Also, it was fairly easy to find nice Turnip Whelks
there (I got three in a five day trip) -- I thought
they were rare?

best,

Gillian
