Dear Marlo,

I don't have my Latin dictionary at hand, but leg. indicates for centuries:
collected by.
Preference is given to leg. over coll. because the latter may be an
indication for either: collected by, or more usually: in the collection of,
which is something very different.

For example:

Vitta usnea (Roeding, 1798)
U.S.A., Florida, Panama City
leg. H. & M. Minzak, Oct. 1964 (=collected by)
coll. H.K. Mienis, now ZMA (=in the collection of H.K. Mienis)

Regards,

Henk

Henk,

What does "leg" mean? Is this the "legend" (data with the shell)?
