Stay away from places that are paroled by the “Shell Police”.

The specimens in shops come from the Philippines mostly!

Hello:

Actually I call myself a newbie seashell collector.

Probably my opinion would be that since I have been collecting seashells.
It doesn't seem to matter what beach I am shelling. However, everyone is
actually fearful of what is laughed about "The Shell Police". I picked up a
shell already on the sand that could not roll back into the waters. But, a
man approached me and said you are taking a live specimen shell. I beg your
pardon I said: "This is a dead shell" the dead animal was partially in and
out of the shell and dead! I am a doctor and know alive from dead. I put
the shell into my little bucket.

Another person approached me and commented -- do you know what we use to
call Shelling is not anymore. I am afraid to bring my children to the beach
to collect shells. In fear we will be arrested and fined -- if a shell is
picked up and if my children are unaware of what they are picking up.

A walk, a day at the beach shelling is no more. Because of the crazy laws
they put into place regarding a beautiful shell. That would be loved and
cared for in a home -- honored by the people who collected their seashells.

The young collectors are no more. OUT OF FEAR OF BEING FINED OR ARRESTED!
The signs on the beach telling people what they can pick up and no shelling
zones.

Although, I have to wonder then where do all these specimen seashells come
from that are lined up in the Seashell Stores and being sold.

Belinda
