Dear Conchl'ers,

Back on September 19th, a group of shell collectors from Virginia,
Maryland, New Jersey and Pennsylvania had an opportunity to go on a
behind-the-scenes tour of the Department of Invertebrate Zoology and the
Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History in Washington D.C.

Some of you may remember that Shireen Gonzaga posted a few emails on
Conch-L over the summer about signing up for the tour. The day turned out
to be a resounding success with a good turn out for the tour and great
hospitality by Raye Germon, the department's collection manager.

A Web site has been set up to share a few of the images from the tour. You
may recognize a few of the tour participant names from Conch-L.

Thanks to Raye and Shireen for organizing an interesting and fun day at the
museum.
