Andy, I agree that there should be a compilation of the various sources
for species information.  But it is a lifetime plus project, and will
always be on-going.  I doubt a doctoral candidate could make more than a
dent in it.
However, with the advent of today's data processors, we may now have the
resources.  But this sort of undertaking will takes many years which
equals many $$$$$.  Who is willing to use the Zoological Record as a
starting point and incorporate all the data into one place, seeking out
errors and making corrections?
 
If we can come up with such a person who is willing to tackle it, I will
make my share of a contribution toward such a project.  Every shell
enthusiast should, and I challenge them to agree.  I believe Heaven is
what we leave behind as accomplishments (or the good we do) while on
earth.  That would be a worthy contribution, indeed.  You, as well as
others, know where the information is to be acquired.  Maybe this tiny
thread on CONCH-L can be the launching point of a really worthy
contribution to civilization.
