I agree with Ferreter's comments about naming things after people (ourselves
and eachother), and add that I think the practice has an arrogance more in
common with the questionable accomplishments of Western civilization than with
those I am proud of.  Is it really "Thompson's gazelle" that predators chase
and kill in Africa?   If I were to name anything after my cat, I trust he
would have the sense to sink his claws into me.
 
A shell related question;  How do you mail-order dealers select which of
several non-identical specimens selling for the same price goes to any
particular customer?  Who gets the best or worse one?  What do you do if
customers make demands, realistic or not, as to specimen size or quality?
