Dear Conch-Lers,
I just returned from 2 weeks in Hawaii to find much publicity on
Conch-L about the founder of our Museum. As Curator of Mollusks at the
Delaware Museum of Natural History, I want to respond to the initial
inquiry about John DuPont's shell collection.
John DuPont donated his shell collection to the Delaware Museum of
Natural History (DMNH) in 1984. His specimens make up approximately one
third of our mollusk collection. Regardless of his present situation, I
remain grateful to him for his foresight and ambition in founding DMNH.
