Dear Conchlers;-
On Feb. 13th, I am going to San Francisco for about ten days.
It doesn't have anything to do with shells. You see, my brother is
the coach of the University of Cincinnati handball team. And the
nationals are being held in Redwood City, a few miles down the
peninsula. The reason I am going is that Ralph and I grew up in San
Francisco and Ralph thinks we should go back and see all the places
we used to know.
We lived by Lafayette Park. There was a cable car that went in
front of our apartment building. We used to go out to Golden Gate
Park and walk all 50 blocks to the beach. That, I remember. I'm told
you're not supposed to do that anymore.
What I wonder is if there are any shell collectors in SF who
would let me see their collections. When the tournament begins, I'm
free. I don't play or understand handball. I was a tennis coach for
30 years. Handball people don't use rackets. If any of you conchlers
are SF people, I'd love to meet you.
