My biggest post office debacle was mailing 6 BAGS of mail to Florida for one
shell gathering and losing something like 12,000 copies of a magazine. They
were, of course turned in at the post office and mailed second class. Never
arrived, not a singly copy. Post office claimed there was no way to track
them and they had no responsibility.

On the other hand, the safest way I know to ship overseas to Europe is bag
mail. 2.2kg boxes, up to 65 pounds per bag. Don't remember the biggest
shipment but I think it was over 1100 pounds with no problem. They are
called 'M' bags. Also, send registered rather than insured. Works far
better since each postal unit must sign for it along the way to the end
recipient.
