Lima vulgaris is almost always listed as a west Pacific subspecies of
Lima lima, a species which occurs in many farflung corners of the
(tropical/subtropical) world. The only difference in L. vulgaris
that I can see, from many specimens I have examined, is its
consistently larger size, commonly exceeding 75 mm, and occasionally
even reaching 125 mm.
