Visited Peanut Island yesterday. Fine day, clear water, excellent snorkeling and pretty good
shelling. The remake of the island continues. The two piers/boat docks are being completed. The
consession building is up and two more support buildings (though one may be restrooms. Can't tell
yet. The beach line in the SW side has been filled in a little where the trees were fallen in the
water. These have been removed. A very large number of trees have been removed on the SW corner.
You can now see the old Coast Guard Station from the rocky beach area. It has been turned into The
Palm Beach Maritime Museum and JFK Bomb Shelter. It's open for visitors who are brought there by
boat. So far, no dredging in any of the waters around the island has taken place.
