Dear Doug,

I have both these species in my collection.

Sigaretus minor Dall, W. H., 1889a. Reports on the results of dredging,
under the supervision of Alexander Agassiz, in the Gulf of Mexico (1877-78)
and in the Caribbean Sea (1879-80), by the by the U. S. Coast Survey Steamer
“Blake,” Lieut.-Commander C. D. Sigsbee, U. S. N., and Commander J. R.
Bartlett, U. S. N., commanding. XXIX. Report on the Mollusca. Part 2,
Gastropoda and Scaphopoda. Bull. Mus. Comp. Zool. 18: 1-492 + pls. 10-40.
June (p. 297; not illustrated (?) until Abbott, R. T., 1974. American
seashells. Second edition. Van Nostrand Reinhold Co., New York, pp. 1-663
incl. numerous text figs. + 24 pls. (sp. 1708 pp. 157-158).

Pecten noronhensis Smith, E. A., 1885 Report on the Lamellibranchiata
collected by the H. M. S. "Challenger." Zoology 13(35): 1-341. I haven't
seen this work. It is correctly depicted in Rios, E. C., 1994. Seashells
of Brasil 2a edição. Fundação Cidade do Rio Grande, Rio Grande do Sul,
Brasil, pp. 1-368 + 113 pls. (sp. 1214, p. 248, pl. 85, fig 1214 [2]). It
occurs from Bermuda to Brasil.

As for deeper water Turrids, start with the same Dall (1889a) work. It has
been reprinted and is often offered for sale.

As an alternative, you can send material to me for ID.

Have you checked Gary Rosenberg's database? I find, after researching
matters like these, that he did this stuff already (and I have duplicated
some labor). I should have checked first myself!! Gary's work is at
