Paul and Emilio,

The book "Moluscos de Chile" by Jaime Ramirez Bohme lists one specimen of
Nacella
mytilina (Helbling, 1779) with the following dimensions 42.2 x 28.1 x
23.0mm.

42.2mm is 1.7 inch, not too far from your 2 inch shell, Paul. As Emilio said
Patella cymbularia Lamarck,1819 is a synonym. It is found, according with
the book, in the Strait of Magellan and Tierra del Fuego.

In the description says:
"Concha delgada, oblonga, forma de lancha, conica, oblicua, medianamente
alta, apice muy anterior, curvado hacia el borde. Delgada casi translucida.
..." If you need some more details I can send them privately.

I wish it can help you.

All the best,

Eduardo
Brasilia, Brazil

Paul,

There is a "Patella" cymbularia Lamarck,1819, which is a synonym of Nacella
mytilina (Helbling, 1779), a Magellanic species. The problem is that your
2-inch shell is too big to be mytilina.

Emilio
