Mel,
Thanks a lot. I'll contact her today. This small research project
from the computer is getting interesting. The first mate on board the
Endeavour is getting excited too. Yesterday I found the museum's web page
and found a photo (not good, but a photo) of a drawer of the banks shell
collection. I'm trying to identify a few of the shells from the photo. I
talked with the first mate last night and they've already put my Malleus
alba on the large desk in the Great Cabin. I've also gotten three or four
of the young seamen (or seawomen) to go on a couple of excursions to see
the wildlife in our area of the country. As this is a "research vessel"
they need to do "research" of the places they visit and get info on the
"natives" of the area in which they are docked. They have never seen our
Giant Redwood Forests nor the Roosevelt Elk which roam about our
countrysides. Maybe a "wild raccoon" that eats nightly on our front porch.
Now, WE have great wildlife here on the north coast (Lost Coast)
Thanks again for the e-mail address. I'll contact Joan or kathy today.
Dan
