Dear Flavia and others,

I can't agree with these forms, as the rules of nomenclature havn't
allowed to describe forms in the past years. The exactly date I don't
remember me without having the rules on hand, but this was sure
before 1980. The author has to decide if he describes a full species
or a subspecies. Forms and variations not any more. It's quite
difficult to explain this without the rules of nomenclature. And forms
or whatever are minimum trinomen. For this I can't agree.
Maybe Cypraea hesitata is a ssp. of Cypraea armeniaca. The
form howelli or whatever it is, seems to be only a small hesitata.

Dear Friend,

After viewed for many times the shells in my collection (Cyprea armeniaca,
hesitata and
hesitata howelli) and spoken with shell friends,  I have thought that these
shells could be a form or subspecies of the same species, infact if I
remember well (now I'm in office and I don't have the compendium
here) the compendium of the seashells classify the armeniaca like a form of
hesitata or
viceversa hesitata form of armenica...

After this discussion the classification could be :

Umbilia armeniaca armeniaca form westralica     (Raybaudi, 1980)

Umbilia armeniaca hesitata form howelli         (Iredale, 1931)
Umbilia armeniaca hesitata form beddomei        (Schilder, 1930)
Umbilia armeniaca hesitata form capricornica    (Lorenz Jr., 1989)
