A law making it no longer a requirement to teach evolution will, I would
think, be just the first step in the fundamentalist offensive, giving them
a beachhead to build up from. If they achieve this they will then find it
easier for to take further nibbles, until schools are ultimately unable to
teach facts. And once a law is passed, it is extremely difficult to get it
rescinded.
