Regarding Lynn's question about mixing mineral oil with lighter fluid -

I have done this for years.  Don't remember who first suggested diluting
the mineral oil with lighter fluid (probably Walter), but it works great.
When you use straight mineral oil  it is rather heavy, and you end up with
a great deal on the shell,  and it is inclined to be sticky and require
some rubbing off of surplus.  When the oil had been deluted with lighter
fluid and applied, the lighter fluid evaporates and leaves just a thin,
non-sticky coating of mineral oil.  It has always worked very well for me.
