Dear Dr. Pearce,

The Lyceum of Natural History of New York was founded in 1817. In 1876 the
Lyceum became the present New York Academy of Sciences.

The Boston Society was found in 1830. Sorry, I'm unable to say what became
of the Boston Society.

American Journal of Conchology was founded in 1865. Seven volumes in all
were published during its existence.

You will find short descriptions of both the Boston Society of Natural
History and the Lyceum of NH of NY, and the American Journal of Conchology
in:

A Bibliography of American Natural History by Max Meisel, vol. II (pp.
235-273 for the Lyceum; pp. 457-517 for the Boston Society); and vol. III
(pp. 326-329). These pages include extensive bibliographies of the articles
published by these societies in their various publications.

Let me know if you need any other information.

Timothy A. Pearce asked:

Do you know if the following organizations exist (and how to contact
them), if they have been merged into other organizations, or what their
history is? Thanks.

Lyceum of Natural History of New York
American Journal of Conchology
