Hark, Art!

SOUNDS like fun! But once again we explain: "There's nothing new under
the sun!"

I quote from COA's "A Twenty Year History of the Conchologists of
America 1972-1991" COA Special Publication 2, 1992, complied by Lucy
Clampit, Historian, and edited by Lynn Scheu, Richard L. Goldberg,
Walter Sage and Lucy Clampit, available for about $4 from Properties
Director Hank Foglino and just plain chock full of COA trivia, including
answers for the Question Man:

***

>Year Two/1973-1974

>Second Convention: Freeport, Bahamas, May, 1973; Host: Kirk Anders
>New President: Kirk Anders, Florida
>First Editor, COA Bulletin: Frank Nelson; COA Bulletin: #1 and 2

        >The 1973 convention was preceded by a bang! The convention location
had been changed from Ft. Lauderdale to an ocean liner in the British
Bahamas, but it blew up before the convention. The location was then
moved to the Castaways Hotel in Freeport, Bahamas. Twenty-six members
were present when the meeting convened on May 12, 1973. Etc.

***

It was not reported whether or not the rest of the members were on the
cruise ship when it blew. But I think there's a lesson in there
somewhere. Maybe "COA does it better on land?"

So just plan to hit it for Houston in June, Art...no pigs to fly you?
Well, just float on down the Ohio to Louisville, and catch the
Scheumobile south. Stops in New Orleans, Lafayette, Galveston, and
Houston. We brake for Sunderlands, antiques and beaches.

Time to Pay your 2000 COA Dues
Psst! All shell dealers who wish to participate in the 2000 COA Bourse
must be paid members for the year 1999 as well.
