Dear colleagues:
The workshop "Climate Change and Irrigation in the Mediterranean" (CLIRMED) will be held in Valladolid, Spain, in November 9-10, 2006. CLIRMED is being partially sponsored by the EU proposal AGRIDEMA
The CLIRMED workshop is aimed to update farmers and technicians about climate change and its expected effects on the Mediterranean, particularly on those effects related to water availability in the future. The currently available climate scenarios and crop-growth simulation models will be presented as tools for supporting agricultural decision-making. The usefulness of these tools under the future water scarcity conditions that climate change would very probably bring to the Mediterranean region will be pointed out.
CLIRMED will finish with a round table, where farmers, scientists and politicians will discuss on how to mitigate climate change risks in the Mediterranean irrigated agriculture.
