Nota bene too that if you put shells in padded envelopes, these can pass through rollers in the sorting office that effectively crush the contents. Not recommended.

Nota bene that, for thin items (diam < 1 inch), the postage can be very cheap (circa 3 euros the "letter"), while postage for thicker parcel start at 13,5 euros!
