The Second Farming Systems Design Symposium will be held August 23 to
27, 2009 in Monterey, CA. This meeting is a joint international effort
co-sponsored by the American Society of Agronomy, European Society of
Agronomy, Australian Society of Agronomy, and the International
Environmental Modeling and Software Society. The first meeting was held
in September 2007 in Catania, Sicily. This meeting will continue the
strong international interest to design and evaluate farming systems
that can be implemented to increase food security, decrease
environmental impacts, respond to climatic change, and provide
management alternatives for enhancing natural resources. The goal of the
symposium series is to conduct biennial meetings throughout the world to
share ideas, experiences, and information on farming system design. This
meeting will assemble the leading scientists throughout the world to
discuss these topics, share their ideas and results, and prepare papers
that will be published as special collections in the world's leading
scientific journals. This meeting welcomes interested scientists and
professionals throughout the world to participate in this ongoing effort
to understand farming systems design.
