11th INTERATIONAL CONFERENCE ON WEED BIOLOGY

Dijon, France, September 6-8, 2000

Conference organized by:
- the Laboratory of Weed Research and Agronomy - INRA,
- the Working Group on Biology, Ecology and Systematics of Weeds from the
ANPP (Association Nationale de Protection des Plantes) - COLUMA (Comité
Français de Lutte Contre les Mauvaises Herbes),
- under the patronage of the EWRS (European Weed Research Society).

The conference will deal with weed biology in connection with crops and
will emphazise new plant protection questions such a reduction of
herbicide treatments, sustainable agriculture and the consequences of the
marquet arrival of transgenic crops. The objective of the conference is to
review these different topics with as many experts as possible from around
the world.

Scientific provisional programme
1. Biology, Ecology and Systematics:
For weeds, including parasitic plants, from temperate or tropical regions

2. Biological Control and non chemical weed control:
Any kind of weed control except herbicide strategies.

3. Competition and Modelling :
Use of cover structure description as input for competition models between
crop and weeds. Competition modelling. Relations between spatial
variability and weed competition.

4. Herbicide weed resistance:
Studies on the appearance, spread, mechanisms and inheritance of herbicide
resistance selected in the field. Prevention and practical management
strategies.

5. Herbicide resistant transgenic crops:
Management strategies (excluding herbicide experimentation) ; consequences
for weed communities and the environment.

6. Agronomic practices and evolution of weed communities:
Evolution of weed communities and soil seed banks according to agronomic
practice and herbicides use.

Deadline for submission of your paper proposal is October 31 1999, draft
April 15, 2000.
