Dear all,

Yes, we've all done it before... nearly fell off a cliff, got caught by the
tide, or faced a shark or something else dangerous (well, at least I have)

But the most scary incidents I have been faced with during shelling trips,
are those caused by fellow humans. Once I was on a beach when two idiots on
mountain bikes came racing up and kicked sand all over me. Last year I
visited a beach not far from here. It is a large, perfectly flat (somewhat
daunting) rock platform at the bottom of a very high sheer cliff. On top of
the cliff are houses, their back yards a few m back from the cliff edge. It
was during the school holidays and a couple of adolescent boys had climbed
over the fence of one of these houses and were on the edge. From there,
they proceeded to throw rocks at me. From such a height, anything you throw
reaches a very long distance, and I had to walk way down the very far low
tide line to avoid being hit. Needless to say, I didn't find much.

And I haven't even talked about the idiots that can't control their DOGS
