Hi Martin and Others,

I have spoken with a friend Emidio Rinaldi that he studied the genus
Anadara from
many years, and he told me that Scapharca inaequivalvis (Bruguière 1789 ) and
Scapharca Cornea(Reeve 1843) are synonym,
The only other species of the genus Anadara in Adriatic sea is Anadara
diluvii
(Lamarck 1805) (syn. Anadara polii (Mayer,1868)) but lives in more depht
of inaequivalvis.
diluvii from > 30 mt, inaequivalvis till of 10-15 mt, sometimes I have
found them alive
on the sea shore during the low tide.
You can also donwload the "NUOVO CATALOGO DELLE CONCHIGLIE MARINE DEL
MEDITERRANEO" of Stefano Chiarelli that cand be found on the web site of Sim
(Italian Malacological Society) http://www.aicon.com/sim/

Situation of genus Anadara in Adriatic Sea:

(first signaling 1960-1970)

Anadara diluvii immigrant from Tyrrenian sea in Adriatic sea
(first signaling December 1996 from Emidio Rinaldi Quad.Studi Nat. Romagna,
           6: 11-14, Dicembre 1996 issn 1123-6787))
