I know that in Hawaii, the Cypraea mauritiana and Opihi (limpets) in
particular and most other Cypraea were eaten by the locals. Numerous fire
pits have been unearthed with large piles of these shells found next to
the pit.

By the way, can anyone let me know how you would prepare a cowrie or clam
to be eaten, in regards to what to remove before cooking??
