ALOHA ALL!

DIVING THE PACIFIC (ESPECIALLY HAWAII) & THE INDIAN OCEAN HAS TAUGHT ME THAT
I'VE NEVER ENCOUNTERED A CONUS "DRILLED" BY A OCTOPUS. RATHER THE OCTOPI
CRUSHES THE SHELL TO GET TO THE MEAT (AS NOTED BY WES THORSSON). CRABS HAVE
A TENDENCY TO PEEL THE LIP BACK UNTIL THE ANIMAL IS EXPOSED. STING RAYS
CRUSH SMALLER SPECIES OR PUNCH HOLES IN LARGER ONES TO SUCK THE MEAT OUT
(I'VE SEEN THIS IN QUERCINUS & LEOPARDUS).

NATICA DO DRILL MILNEEDWARDSI "KAWAMURAI" ON DEEP MUDDY SAND OFF THE
RYUKYU'S. OVER 90% OF SPECIMENS ON THE MARKET BEAR THESE SCARS. CHRIS:)
