Dear Rich;-
I think the key word in your message is "virtual". The sources you mention are lists. I'm thinkin' big---like a place where the inductees would each have a niche, his (or her) major work listed in brass. An included computer that would be able to bring up the inductee's life story, contributions, pictures of described mollusks, and some etc's. I would personally apply for the job of polishing the brass.
The senator from the chosen state could include money in an Omnibus Bill. Instead of "Pork", we could call it (in my honor)---ah, well, you get the idea.
But I am very serious about the project. I hope some of our movers, shakers, and enablers give it some thought.
