Yes, I can well imagine that allergy would be a possibility, or at
least sensitization.

Hydrofluoric (HF)... one of the nastiest chemicals known to man. I
have never used it. I do use bulk concentrated (glacial) acetic. This
is nasty stuff too, especially if you inhale it. It's also a pain, as
it freezes at 18ºC... so when you try to pour from your 20-liter
bottle, all you get is a dribble, the bulk being solid...
