According to William George Maton's "Biographical Memoirs of Richard
Pulteney, M.D.", which prefaces the second edition (1813) of Pulteney's
"Catalogue...Dorsetshire":

"He (Pulteney) left his valuable Museum to the Linnean Society (of London)".

In a footnote to this sentence Maton continues:

"The British part of his Testacea may be considered as forming an authentic
exemplification of the species described in the Dorsetshire Catalogue".

In Charles Davies Sherborn's "Where is the ----- Collection"? (1940):

Pulteney, Rich. Shells and foss. sold at Stevens' (auction house), Nov.
1863 (teste J.E. Harting). P. had Maton and Rackett types. Sale, Ath. June
1863, 762. Specimens in Hoare's Wiltshire. A. Reynell had some
information. See Gage, Hist. Linn. Soc. P.125.

Unfortunately, my rather extensive collection of Stevens' auction catalogues
only goes back to 1870.

Hope this gets you on the right track. Perhaps the Linnean Society of
London can shed some light on the matter. It surprises me that Sherborn did
not cite Maton.

Regards,
Scott Jordan

Most of the names you have listed are evidently not attributable to
Pulteney. See Bowden & Heppell, 1968, Journal of Conchology 26: 321-328.

References to sources such as this can be found in 2,400 Years of
Malacology, 3rd edition, available at
www.malacological.org/publications/epubs.html

Hope this helps.
