S. C. Hollister (1958)* reports that B. canaliculatum was introduced
into San Francisco Bay (no method of introduction was known).  It
was first noticed in about 1938.  Hollister's information was provided
by Dr. Leo G. Hertlein of the California Academy of Sciences.
