Unfortunately, archaeologists tend to get more excited about a highy
carved piece of shell than a reasonably complete and identifiable
specimen, so the information in reports is not always what one might
like from a malacological perspective. There are some exceptions-the
Vokes were involved in some work in Yucatan, ca. early 1970's, for
example.
