Folks,

A colleague of mine asks:

Do you know of the resting place of a large conchological collection formerly owned by a Mr. Ralph Jackson, from Cambridge, Maryland?
In 1966, Alan Solem referred to Mr. Jackson's personal collection as the single largest holding of neotropical camaenidae anywhere, particularly rich in Ecuadorian material. He also supplied material to then important museum collections. I suspect that this collection was also rich in other groups from northern South America. I would love to know the current location of his collection (or portions thereof), both for Camaenidae and for all other neotropical non-marine mollusks. I suppose a search for "Jackson" may be a lead, but I can't find that myself with the resources I have available. At the very least, I would like to eliminate one-by-one the possible US-collections where Jackson's material may be held.

Any leads, conchlers?

PC.
